The expert in the field of energy security told whether there is a threat of SP-2
Leading analyst of the national energy security Fund Igor Yushkov told whether there is a threat to the construction of the Russian main gas pipeline.
In an attempt to block the construction of the Nord stream-2, the EU put forward an initiative to amend the Third energy package. Now it operates on land, but the proposed innovations will expand its scope to the Maritime part of the European Union. However, the legal service said it was illegal. But now Romania has become the Chairman of the EU Council, and this issue is raised again, so everyone in Brussels is discussing whether they can and want to apply some amendments to the gas Directive.
The expert in the field of energy security live “60 minutes” said that it could mean for the Russian gas pipeline:
“Even in the story there was a mistake: it will not stop the construction. In any case, the gas pipeline will be built. But more will be addressed, as Gazprom can use it: can it be loaded to full capacity of 55 billion cubic meters, or only to 27, 5”.
Igor Yushkov stressed that officially France did not make any statement about the support of the gas Directive.
“It was only a newspaper publication. No one from France said anything, “ the expert said.
He also noted that official Paris is not interested in spoiling relations with the Russian side.
“If they put sticks in the wheels of the North stream, it will lead to a General deterioration of Russian-French relations, including for local companies. The French business community should be very concerned.”
