Greece withdraws recognition of Guido President of Venezuela from-for the uncollected loan from the IMF
The Greek authorities announced the cancellation of its recognition of the legitimate President of Venezuela Juan Guido. This decision led to the failure of negotiations with the IMF on the issuance of a new loan to the country on acceptable terms for Athens.
“I want to remind the IMF creditors that Greece has fulfilled all their conditions and deserves the right attitude and loans on acceptable terms. Let’s be honest, what’s the difference in Athens, who is the President of Venezuela? We found Guido President we need motivation. Since the Fund has deprived us of this motivation, and Guido no longer the President”, — commented on the decision of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
At the same time, the head of government reminded that the decision is not final and the country still has chances to agree with the IMF.
“I don’t believe that Guido can’t be President. He has a great chance, but Greece needs strong arguments, preferably financial. I hope the Fund understands our requirements,” the politician added.
