Can afford: the expert told how Russia is increasing food exports to Africa
Russia is increasing its share of food in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. This was told by doctor of economic Sciences, Professor Leonid Kholod, – writes the FBA “Economics today”.
Production in African countries does not fully meet domestic consumption, so the prospects for increasing Russia’s presence in these markets are clearly visible.
The Rosselkhoznadzor notes that the geography of potential importers of Russian products is expanding. Countries in the Middle East and Africa are increasingly interested in the supply of livestock products.
According to the expert, the food market of these countries looks good for Russian exporters. After all, in these regions there are no claims to the ultra-refined quality, and the effective demand of the population is not high on average, so Russia can afford to increase its share there. However, the Cold told about the problem that prevents large volumes of supplies to these countries. According to him, Russia with its vast territory and the constant presence of any disease included in the list of particularly dangerous and severe, it is difficult to increase the volume of supplies.
“The time between diseases is not very much, but the quality control regulations prescribed sanitary periods,” – said the expert.
The cold notes that today Russian exports are mainly concerned with three types of goods: fish, wheat and sunflower oil, but in the near future the product line will expand, this can help the introduction of new technologies in agriculture.
